Residents' consortium
All tenants and leaseholders of Portsmouth City Council have automatic membership of the residents' consortium, which:
- promotes the interests of all Portsmouth City Council’s tenants and leaseholders
- builds a partnership between the council and the consortium
- plays an active part in the formation of the council’s housing strategy, policies and practices
- empowers tenants and leaseholders through learning and training opportunities and therefore benefiting the consortium in all its activities
- holds monthly meetings on subjects chosen by the membership
- attends and speaks at housing executive meetings
- meets on specific 'portfolio' services such as repairs, sheltered housing etc
- negotiates annual rent increases and budget decisions about how their money (rents and service charges) will be spent
- campaigns on national issues such as rent subsidy
