Housing development

We work towards one of council's top priorities - to improve the quality and affordability of housing in Portsmouth.  We are responsible for:

• identifying sites for development on land owned by the council's Housing Managment department 
• promoting opportunities to develop new affordable housing
• creating links with registered social landlords, developers and consultans to maximise the return from housing assets
• managing the housing commercial portfolio which contains various retail and office units

We have a wealth of experience and we are currently working on a variety of high quality projects.  In considering the needs of the area, we work closely with local residents, councillors and other council departments to create diverse and sustainable communities. 

We have recently applied to the Housing Corporation for support grant funding.  This key source of funding will enable the council to develop social housing and could provide up to 40% towards the cost of construction.

We have identified an extensive number of sites, both land and property, across Portsmouth that are available for development.  We work in partnership with many companies that want to produce high quality projects, including registered social landlords, developers and other consultants.
