Check food safety ratings with Safe2Eat

The Safe2Eat site is a way of checking food safety at restaurants and other food premises in Portsmouth and around Hampshire.

Every business serving or selling food, including takeaways, supermarkets and pubs, has been given an "excellent", "satisfactory" or "unsatisfactory” rating, based on a council food safety officer's inspection. Businesses with an "unsatisfactory" rating are targeted by the council to make sure they improve. They could end up in court.

Such schemes have been shown to bring dramatic improvements in food safety. The status of an "excellent" award should ensure businesses work harder to improve and maintain hygiene standards.

We believe Portsmouth residents are entitled to this information, so they can make an informed choice about where to eat or to buy their food.
