Portsmouth Parent Partnership Service
Portsmouth Parent Partnership Service (PPPS) offers impartial advice, support and information to parents of children with special educational needs in Portsmouth, so they can make informed decisions about their child’s education.
At some time in their lives many children have a special educational need of some kind. At Portsmouth Parent Partnership Service the promise is to provide clear and accurate information and advice to parents to enable their active participation in any decision making regarding their child’s education.
All cases are treated in the strictest confidence and details will not be passed on to any person outside the service, unless the parents concerned agree.
PPPS is funded by us and managed by Mencap.
What they do:
- arrange visits and accompany you to alternative schools
- give you practical support in preparing for meetings and can attend with you if you would like them to
- help you to understand reports and official documents
- help you to understand the Statutory Assessment and Statement process, and your role in it
- help you to write letters and complete forms
- help you write the parent contribution for Statutory Assessments or Annual Reviews
- listen, encourage and support you to become confident in expressing your views and concerns
