Detailed Assessment Report 2007 (draft)
Executive Summary
This Detailed Assessment report follows on from the work reported in the Further Assessment and the Updating and Screening Assessment published in 2005 and 2006 respectively.
This report covered two areas:
-
Revisit the nitrogen dioxide detailed modelling for 2010 in Air Quality Management 11 (AQMA11) to allow the Council to confirm the extent of exceedance of nitrogen dioxide annual National Air Quality Objective (NAQO), in response to the review of road traffic data.
-
A Detailed Assessment of:
-
Fine particulate matter (PM10) for Air Quality Management 11 (2005 and 2010).
-
Nitrogen dioxide and fine particulate matter (PM10) for Victoria Road North (2006 and 2010).
-
This report concluded the followings:
-
It is not predicted that the nitrogen dioxide annual National Air Quality Objective will be exceeded at any part in Victoria Road North in 2006 and 2010.
-
It is not predicted that Fine particulate matter (PM10) annual National Air Quality Objective will be exceeded at any part in Victoria Road North in 2006 and 2010.
-
There is evidence to support the 2006 Further Assessment findings that exceedances of the nitrogen dioxide annual National Air Quality Objective is likely to remain 2010 in Air Quality Management 11. It is also predicted that the fine particulate matter (PM10) annual National Air Quality Objective will not be breached in 2006 and 2010.
In light of the above, Portsmouth City Council is considering the following actions:
-
To carry out further monitoring of fine particulate matter (PM10) at Mile End Road area in addition to nitrogen dioxide monitoring.
-
Relocate diffusion monitoring to the southern end of Victoria Road North to include the junction with Elm.
