Services for Young People

Skateboarder Libraries are not just for babies and children. We have also got great books for teens. All they have to do is head for the On The Edge section of their local library, where they will find anything from Marvel to Manga.

All libraries have a selection of magazines that young people will enjoy.

Portsea Youth Club

Every Monday Portsea Library opens alongside Portsea Youth Club in the John Pounds Community Centre between 7pm and 9pm for anyone aged between 12 and 24. Supervised access to the Internet on the adult computers is available free of charge.

Outreach

The Young People's Librarian will visit young people in secondary schools and youth clubs. He also undertakes regular visits to residential care homes and can work with foster carers supporting their needs. He is happy to receive invitations to talk to young people around the city about what the Library Service has to offer. Contact Dave Percival at johnpounds.library@portsmouthcc.gov.uk or call 023 9229 7072.
