Junior sports bursaries

Bursaries for 2008/09

We are prepared to offer an award of up to £110 per year to young people who need to attend regular training sessions or high level competitive events in order to realise their potential in their chosen sport.

Pupils/students must be:

• aged between 11 and 19
• resident in Portsmouth
• in full-time education
• exceptionally talented in their chosen sports (such as in the national top 20 in their age group)
• recommended by a specialist coach who is recognised by the appropriate governing body
• medically fit for their sport

Forms for new applicants are sent to the heads of schools and colleges in September each year and should be submitted to us by Friday 14 December 2007 for the 2008/09 bursary.  Alternatively, applications can be obtained by contacting the Children, Families and Learning Directorate on (023) 92841209.
