Business Plan 2006/07 - 2008/09
The Directorate exists to help improve (education) outcomes (for all learners in the city). Our key priorities include a focus on raising educational achievement, improving school attendance, improving behaviour in school settings and diversifying our offer for adult learners to help tackle the skill deficit in the city. We are addressing these issues by improving the quality of teaching and learning, by developing a personalised curriculum and through the inclusive nature of our provision. We also make a significant contribution to the achievement of a broader range of outcomes for children and young people as set out within the National 5 outcomes in the 2004 Children Act and supported by/embedded within the Portsmouth 8.
As lead partner for the delivery of Education and Lifelong Learning Priority, the Directorate plays a key role in supporting the delivery plan endorsed by the Local Strategic Partnership which is helping to achieve key learning targets within the 2004-09 Community Strategy.
