Portsmouth Macmillan Library ServiceLast updated: 20 December 2012 09:33 UK
If you or someone close to you is living with or beyond cancer, we are here to help.
What do we offer?
Every Portsmouth library holds some Macmillan information, with the widest range of resources held at Portsmouth Central Library. Library staff can help you find information and leaflets to take away or read in the library. Macmillan resources can be borrowed using a library card and can be reserved free of charge if they are already on loan to another borrower. There is also free internet access and library staff can help you to use the computer.
Information is available in books, leaflets and CDs, including resources in large print and other languages. There is also information to help children affected by cancer.
Your library can book you a confidential appointment with a trained advisor to help with:
- Finding and understanding cancer-related information
- Signposting to other organisations such as those offering counselling and self-help groups
- Searching for and downloading information about cancer on the internet
Macmillan CAB AdvisorIf you are affected by cancer and have any queries relating to benefits, financial concerns, employment issues, housing and debt, the CAB advisor can help. Sharon is available on Thursday mornings at Portsmouth Central Library between 10am and 1pm. You can either make an appointment by phoning ahead on 0844 847 7727, or just drop in on a Thursday morning and see if Sharon is free.
