Adult and Family Learning Plan 2006/07 - 2008/09
Mission Statement
Adult and Family Learning (AFL) is seen as a key component of the achievement of neighbourhood renewal and in the delivery of the City Council's Community Plan, which will evolve into the Community Strategy for the City of Portsmouth.
- We believe that investing in adult and family learning will bring dividends to all its citizens and will not only promote economic, social and environmental well-being, but will also support the effective delivery of a range of statutory and voluntary sector services, not just education.
- Our Development Plan recognises the significance of adult and family learning in contributing to the raising of standards in schools and is committed to the concept of 'Extended Schools' across the City.
- The Adult and Family Learning Plan is designed to contribute actively to the realisation of the local LSC's strategic objectives, in particular those concerned with extended adult participation in learning, increasing achievement and in raising the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of learning provision.
