Meet the author
There seems to be an equation that works something like this: Children + Authors = Inspiration for reading and writing. The equation certainly works that way when the author is an able communicator with children and has written books that offer enjoyment and imagination. When this is the case, books and the writing process come alive in a very special way.
Portsmouth School Library Service invites top children’s authors to visit Portsmouth schools, believing that an encounter with a real live author can be one of the most inspirational a child can have.
During 2008 and 2009 the following authors will be visiting Portsmouth schools:
- Kaye Umansky (pictured below)
- John Foster
- Ian Whybrow (pictured above)
- Paul Cookson
- Ali Sparkes
- Michael Coleman
As part of the Portsmouth Book Award and Literature Quiz there have also been appearances by Nick Sharratt, Andrew Norriss, James Riordan and, coming soon, Derek Landy.
