School uniform grant

Each primary school's prospectus will state whether it has a school uniform. All secondary schools require pupils to wear a uniform and their individual brochures will set out their policy on school uniform.

Families in receipt of Income Support or Job Seeker's Allowance (income based) can apply for assistance with the purchase of a school uniform.

Assistance will be targeted at children beginning Year R (Reception), Year 3 (first year of junior school) and Year 5 (third year of junior school).

For secondary school children, families can apply for assistance with the purchase of a school uniform if their children are starting Years 7, 9 or 10. Assistance in Years 8 and 11 is not available.

Where the secondary grant is available for each pupil up until the end of the academic year for which they are eligible, the primary grant is finite and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.  Secondary Schools also distribute on a first come, first served basis.  If you are in receipt of any of the above benefits and wish to apply for the grant at primary level, please ensure you apply on or close after 1st June.
