Portsmouth Book Award

The Portsmouth Book Award winners for 2010 have now been decided in all three categories, and celebration events took place across the city during the summer term. Sophie McKenzie, the winner of the 2010 Longer Novel category, is pictured above with the two pupils voted Readers of the Year and The Lord Mayor Of Portsmouth, Cllr Paula Riches.

Reads United

This football-themed reading extravaganza was a great success, with pupils from schools across the city and from further afield taking part. Authors Tom Palmer and Helena Pielichaty spent two days at Fratton Park during the World Cup group stages, talking to children about their books and about football, signing books and organising penalty shoot-outs! Sadly even the combined enthusiasm of over 1,400 pupils could not influence the outcome of the tournament…
