This manual is designed to offer a basic introduction to disability awareness. If you are involved in customer care, family liaison or organising consultations events, conferences, meetings or home visits, this publication will be invaluable.It informs you about the council’s approach to disability and gives an overview of the latest disability legislation. It will also help you to better understand the terms prejudice, stereotype and assumptions.
The guide also includes a section on appropriate language – which can be a potential minefield for any service provider.
