Coastal defence management
Last updated: 05 March 2013 11:02 UKWhat we do
Four Local Authorities have combined forces of coastal departments, to work in partnership forming the Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership.
- Portsmouth City Council
- Havant Borough Council
- Gosport Borough Council
- Fareham Borough Council.
The partnership surveys and carries out research relating to coast protection and sea defence; it designs and supervises new sea defence and coast protection projects; arranges and supervises coastal protection works and advises private individuals on minor problems with coast protection and flooding where these are the consultee's responsibility.
The coastal district within the Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership’s Authority is approximately 160 kilometres in length. The Coastal Partnership maintains this with the help of land owners whose land adjoins the shoreline.
Who are we?
The Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership is a small group of officers who manage the coastal flood and erosion risk to Havant, Portsmouth, Gosport and Fareham's coastline. The Partnership has a wealth of local knowledge and experience of the coastal problems particular to our coastline.
The Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership aims to reduce risks to people, the developed and natural environment from flooding and coastal erosion by encouraging provision of technically, economically and environmentally sound defence measures along the coastline of the Partnership.
For more information on coastal flood and erosion risk management and on the coastal partnership access the website: Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership.
