Southern Gas Networks (SGN)

Scottish Southern Energy (SSE) has purchased the 120,000 sqft ex De La Rue site in Walton Road, Farlington for £5.8m.  It will be used by its gas distribution company Southern Gas Networks (SGN) as the base for its Solent depot operations and map digitisation centre plus 24/7 emergency dispatch.

SSE has also committed to spending £3.6m refurbishing the site that will be the base for 200 staff initially and up to 450 in the long-term.  This investment is a consolidation of four operations in Portsmouth and Havant and it will also be a base for sister companies Southern Electric Power Distribution and Southern Electric Contracting.

Raymarine

Raymarine, a global leader in the supply of electronic products to the leisure marine market, will relocate its headquarters plus engineering, R&D, service, repair and test centre to North Harbour, adjacent to Harbourgate Business Park.  It currently has two operations in Portsmouth, including its corporate HQ and the new building will provide 111,000 sqft allowing room for future expansion.

Wellman Defence

Wellman Defence are relocating to a new 36,000 sq ft bespoke building in Portsmouth which will encompass state-of-the-art testing facilities for it's unique range of submarine atmosphere control products as well as a design, manufacturing and servicing centre.  Visit Wellman Defence website to find out more.

McClaren Automotive

McClaren Automotive located part of its production facility in the northern part of Portsmouth, which is now where the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren begins its life.  The operation focuses on the complex, high-precision assembly process and makes the most critical of the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren's carbon fibre components.  Visit McClaren website to find out more.
