Providing information, advice and guidance for employers on how to improve recruitment and retention by taking a look at the abilities of older workers in the areas of recruitment, selection, promotion, training, redundancy and retirement. This service is provided by the Portsmouth & South East Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Portsmouth City Council. For more details telephone 023 9244 9449.
New Deal
Providing training and support for people with disabilities and the unemployed, helping them back into work with the skills that employers want. Part of the Government’s New Deal initiative, this dedicated unit which is part of Portsmouth City Council, can identify the right recruits for your business, offer work trials and give ongoing support to you to make sure that your new employee suits the needs of your organisation.
Portsmouth Childcare Advice & Training (CHAT)
Free information and guidance for local employers in assisting with childcare and family issues, in order to help with the recruitment and retention of workers who are parents with children aged 0-20 years. Portsmouth CHAT can also support employers looking to open their own workplace childcare provision and recruit childcare workers. They offer a wide range of advice and support at every stage of the recruitment process, such as labour market information and alternative recruitment channels, as well as placing your vacancy in the job centre. If you are looking to fill a full-time or temporary vacancy, or if you have a specific issue or problem that can be tackled on a short-term or project basis, Purple Door student and graduate recruitment services can help.Visit the university website to get more detailed information.
In addition, most students will undertake some form of employment while studying to help with their finances.
