BVT Carrier Orders and Supply Chain Implications

Marine South East, together with Portsmouth City Council and the University of Southampton, organises this event to explain the recently announced new aircraft carrier orders for BVT and the implications for the local supply chain. This is likely to be a popular event and free to attend. Therefore only one delegate per company is anticipated.

Cibas Breakfast Club - Space Exploration

Following a successful year of monthly breakfast briefings for artists, designers, writers, performers and creative and cultural businesses, Cibas and South East Hampshire Enterprise Gateway are planning another twelve month programme beginning in October 2008.

This brand new series of events will begin with a special session hosted by Victory Business Centre. If you are looking for creative work or studio space, if you are considering the future requirements of your business or creative practice, or if you would like to join a lively discussion on the subject - then this event is for you. 

The speaker will be printmaker and designer Jane Shepherd who works from her own independently leased studio in central Portsmouth. The event will also include a guided tour of some of the spaces and facilities that the Portsmouth City Council managed Victory Business Centre has to offer.

Admission and refreshments are free of charge but booking is essential

The Latest Developments in Supply Chain Management
Lecture Theatre 3, Richmond Building, University of Portsmouth
This event will discuss different aspects of supply chain management by two guest speakers.

Dr Ian Harwood, from School of Management at University of Southampton, is going to discuss two pieces of recent research into corporate responsibility in the supply chain. Three main items for discussion will be:

• Where are we with embedding corporate responsibility into supply
• Using force-field analysis to drive forward corporate responsibility related change in procurement practices 
• How resilient are corporate responsibility programmes in the face of major organisational change

David Pointon, Head of Procurement, Portsmouth City Council,  will share his experience of procurement at IBM and Chloride Group. He will cover:

• Maximising opportunities for collaborative procurement
• Shared services - what is meant by this and does it work
• Getting the most out of corporate contrcts

The Portsmouth Business School is hosting "Any Questions?" Radio 4's forum for a lively debate between leading public figures. Transmitted live on Radio 4 between 8:00-8:50pm.
