Internal temporary register

Picture of a business man We have an internal register of candidates who are available for short-term temporary assignments in admin. These assignments could be anything from 1 day up to 6 months in length, with long periods without work in-between. The register is managed by Recruitment and supported by chief officers and elected members.

New for 2008!

Following our success with the internal temporary register we have now agreed to supply temporary administration and customer service staff to our neighbouring local authorities in Fareham, Gosport and Havant, just apply in the normal way.

About you

Generally, you will need to have a good basic education and telephone manner. Proof of your qualifications will be required, as without them we will not be able to process your application.

You will need to be flexible and adaptable, willing to work in any area of our business and prepared to undertake any assignment you are skilled for. You will also need to be available at short notice. Some positions will also require you to have a CRB check.

ICT skills

We mainly use Microsoft business applications, so a good working knowledge of systems such as Word, Excel and Access is necessary.

Job skills

Listed below are some examples of the variety of temporary assignments that we offer and the relevant qualifications and experience required.

Administrator
A suitable qualification, or at least one year's  experience. Typing, filing, photocopying, minute/note taking, diary management, presentation, a good telephone manner and liaison with senior members of staff and Members.

Clerical
Filing, photocopying and other general office duties.

Customer service and reception
Experience in customer service and a good telephone manner are essential. Experience of working on a switchboard would be desirable.

Data entry
A good knowledge of ICT systems (such as databases, Outlook and spreadsheets), speed and accuracy.

Secretary
Secretarial qualification, or at least two year's experience. Typing, filing, photocopying, minute/note taking, diary management, telephone enquiries and liaison with senior members of staff and Members.
