Rats are treated free of charge for all domestic residents, although we do charge landlords for treatment in rented propery. There is a charge for other pests with subsidised rates offered to people on benefits. Commercial premises are also treated at competitively priced rates.
We also work closely with Southern Water Services by sewer baiting to try to reduce the numbers of rats in the city's sewers where they often live. They come to the surface and get into houses by various means, including defective drainage systems and we proactively investigate every infestation in order to ascertain the likelihood of drainage defects. Where this is found to be an issue we work with residents and Southern Water to resolve these issues on a proactive and prioritised basis. A link to their website is to the right of this page.
