Public Protection Officers look at the following areas of water quality:

• Private Water Supplies - water from a borehole or well.
• Bathing Waters - including swimming pools and seawaters.

The standards of the water are tested and monitored regularly, sometimes both microbiologically (bacteria) and chemically.
