Financial Assistance

Portsmouth companies are able to access a wide range of local, regional and national subsidies from a number of sources even though the City is not an Assisted Area and as such not eligible for inward investment grants.

Selective Financial Investment

Following a successful bid by the City Council, SMEs in Portsmouth were able to apply for an Enterprise Grant to help them finance their growth. This scheme has now been merged into the SFI that has a focus on increasing productivity and innovation.

It is a discretionary scheme with the minimum award being £10,000. The maximum is based upon company size with £100,000 to Small Enterprises and £75,000 to Medium Enteprises.

The City Council is keen to ensure that as many Portsmouth businesses as possible are able to benefit from this and a number already have received grants to fund development projects.

For a preliminary assessment of eligibility and to arrange a meeting to discuss an application in more detail please contact the Business Team on 023 9284 1074 or email invest@portsmouthcc.gov.uk
