Sports & Leisure
With almost 50km of waterfront, Portsmouth residents enjoy lots of water-based activities on the Solent, but the city also boasts numerous gyms and sport centres, a gymnastics centre, indoor tennis centre and several swimming pools. The Mountbatten Leisure Centre is one of the largest sport facilities in the city and is currently undergoing a £20million redevelopment which includes a new 50m pool. This will be the only one of its kind on the south coast of England, and the city is currently bidding to host pre-Olympic games camps in 2012. With a successful Premiership football club, there are lots of aspiring individuals that are involved in many teams of all levels of ability across Portsmouth. The city also offers a golf course, outdoor centre, bowling alleys and skate park.
Portsmouth caters for all tastes with two theatres, five cinemas, an art gallery, libraries, markets, music venues, museums, restaurants, cafes, as well as lots of tourism attractions and festivals from which local residents benefit.

Shopping in Portsmouth
Portsmouth has a great retail offer with the main high-street names in the City Centre, boutique and independent traders in Southsea and an enormous factory-outlet offering at Gunwharf Quays. The City Centre is also undergoing a £350 million redevelopment which will result in Portsmouth being in the top 15 shopping destinations in the country. Alongside all of this, there are several district shopping centres as well as local shops and the main supermarkets and retail parks.
