Council's mark of respectLast updated: 25 October 2012 08:45
Union Flags will be flown at half-mast from the Guildhall and the Civic Offices today to mark the death of a Royal Marine from 40 Commando Royal Marines, who was killed in Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand Province on Wednesday 24 October.
The mark of respect follows the passing of a resolution by Portsmouth City Council.
Following the resolution, all service personnel from the city, and those in the Royal Navy or Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment (formerly Royal Hampshire Regiment), who die defending Queen and country will be similarly honoured
