New crossing improves safety for residents
Last updated: 19 October 2012 15:33
Residents near Rudmore roundabout in Portsmouth now have a much safer place to cross the road.
A push-button 'green man' crossing, improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists, has been put in by Portsmouth City Council, spanning Twyford Avenue and Stamshaw Road.
It replaces a crossing further north which only crossed Stamshaw Road.
The crossing was officially opened by ward councillors Cllr Jason Fazackarley, Portsmouth City Council's Cabinet Member for Traffic and Transportation, and Cllr Leo Madden.
Cllr Madden said:
"We're delighted this project has come to fruition. It was wanted very much by nearby residents, including many elderly people and people with disabilities."
