Portsmouth's school children face the music
Last updated: 15 October 2012 15:07
Portsmouth Music Hub is holding an interactive concert with the Royal Marines School of Music on Thursday 18 October at the Kings Theatre.
There will be two interactive concerts for children and young people, to be attended by over 1,500 infant, junior and secondary school pupils. The first concert will begin at 10.30am and the second at 1.30pm.
Portsmouth Music Hub have organised the concert as an opportunity for children to experience a wide range of instruments, and to inspire them to become passionate about music and learning an instrument.
It will also provide a memorable musical day that not only gets young people excited about music, but also demonstrates that music can be a career too.
Sue Beckett, head of Portsmouth Music Service, said:
“We are delighted that the Royal Marines School of Music are performing as part of Portsmouth Music Hub’s concert season. Hundreds of children and teachers across the city are looking forward to the concerts, especially after the tremendous success of the last one.
“The musicians are an inspiration to our young people and we hope that the children will be motivated to participate in music in the future.”
