300 job opportunities are up for grabs at event in Portsmouth

If you are looking for a job, head to the job opportunities event at Cascades shopping centre.

Across 15 employers, 300 job opportunities are up for grabs on Thursday, 27 September, from 10am to 4:30pm.

There will be a mix of both permanent and temporary jobs available, and also the chance to speak to HR managers and other staff for tips on how to be a successful applicant.

Employers attending the event and looking to recruit include; TK Max, Primark, Affinion, Serco, Capita, Wetherspoons, Argos, Marriott, BHS, ToysRUs and the Hilton.

This is the second year running for this popular event, run by Portsmouth City Council, Jobcentre Plus, Cascades Shopping Centre, The News and Learning Links. Jobcentre Plus will be on hand to give advice to anyone at risk of redundancy, with opportunities for jobs and apprenticeships.

The Pompey Bus will be parked in the precinct where you can’t miss it, to offer advice on careers for everyone. Information will be on hand for courses to increase your skills and financial, debt and benefit advice.

Linda Taylor, employment initiatives manager, said: “Everyone is facing financial difficulties at the moment because of the economic climate and this event will get a lot of the community back into work again.

“Last year’s event was a big success in finding work for residents and I hope that it can do the same this year.

“A lot of people have the right skills and motivation but are struggling to get a job. This event is about giving everyone the chance to get back into work again”.
