Carers survey to help and improve services
Last updated: 18 September 2012 15:05
Adult carers in Portsmouth have the chance to rate council services across the city during October and November.
From 1 October, the questionnaire will be sent to around 1,000 randomly selected carers. The statutory survey is being carried out by Portsmouth City Council for the NHS Information Centre.
The confidential questionnaire will ask carers about their experiences of being a carer and whether the services in Portsmouth have helped.
The results will help Portsmouth City Council evaluate the services for carers across the city, make necessary improvements, and measure the progress of the 11 priorities of the Carers Strategy.
The results will also be used on a national scale to see how local authorities across the nation are meeting the needs of carers in their area.
Once carers have received and completed the questionnaire, it can simply be posted back in the freepost envelope provided.
The survey is optional, but if it hasn’t been returned by 5 November, you can expect to receive a reminder letter.
Cllr Leo Madden, Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care, said: “The more responses we receive, the more improvements we can make. It is important that we receive sufficient feedback to develop our services for carers.”
Those that respond by 30 November will be entered into a prize draw to win £50 Marks and Spencers vouchers, courtesy of the Carers Centre.
The last time the survey was carried out in 2009, 80% of those questioned said they were satisfied with the support they received from adult social care. Since then, services have been working together to make improvements and the survey will help measure their success.
