Live Soprano to help celebrate the Proms in Portsmouth

Join us at the Big Screen Portsmouth for live coverage of the BBC Proms 2012 season finale from the Royal Albert Hall, including some beautiful live singing.
This Saturday, 8 September at 6:30pm, Soprano Sylvia Rota will be performing on the Guildhall Steps. Be amazed by her stunning voice as she performs a series of songs from her repertoire. Following this, live coverage of the Proms will start from 7:30pm.
The Proms will start with a world premiere of Mark Simpson’s ‘Sparks’ along with other musical treats including; the works of Verdi, Rodgers, Puccini and the ‘Olympic Fanfare and Theme’ from John Williams.
The finale to the evening will feature the classics of Rule Britannia, 'Land of Hope and Glory', ‘Jerusalem’, and ‘The National Anthem’.
Craig Willcock, cultural development officer said: “Why sit at home and watch the Proms when you can come along with your friends and family and enjoy live entertainment in Guildhall Square?
“Bring a flag, a chair or cushion, pack a picnic and wear warm clothes.”
A free programme, song sheet and flag will be available on the night.
