FREE e-audio book downloads are a resounding success
Last updated: 07 August 2012 11:56
Recently launched library service offering free e-audio books, has already seen hundreds of downloads by literature loving residents.
Since the service was launched earlier this summer, 250 people have signed up and over 500 e-audio books have already been downloaded. Ian Rankin’s The Naming of the Dead and Paul Torday’s Salmon Fishing in the Yemen remain the most downloaded titles, but Seven Troop by Andy McNab, Sister by Rosamund Lupton, and Queen Camilla by Sue Townsend have also been popular.
Although the crime and thriller genres are proving most popular, audio book lovers have downloaded titles from almost every genre on offer. So whatever you’re desperate to download, here’s your chance to get your hands on some great books.
OneClickdigital have already added nearly 100 new titles since July, and plan to add hundreds more over the next few months. Recent additions include fiction by Hilary Mantel, Santa Montefiore, Charlaine Harris, William Boyd and Sophie Kinsella, and non-fiction by Antonia Fraser and Ian Mortimer.
Lindy Elliot, library services manager at the council, said:
“With so many people travelling, heading off on holiday, or just sitting back to enjoy the summer, there couldn’t be a better time to make the most of our audio book downloads. OneClickdigital is a very popular service with many has new additions to discover. From Harry and the Dinosaurs to Stephen Fry, and Hilary Mantel to Sophie Kinsella, you’re bound to find something to treasure this summer.
“We’ve already had some great feedback, one elderly couple said they found the service really convenient and easy to use, and loved the huge amount of choice on offer. It’s also great for commuters, as one young man said he downloads mainly crime thrillers that he listens to on his mp3 player when travelling to and from work.”
The e-audio book service, provided by OneClickdigital website, makes it even easier to download and enjoy your favourite authors at home or on the go.
If you’ve yet to discover the wonderful world of audio books, sign up now using your Portsmouth library card. Just visit the OneClickdigital website to create your account and browse hundreds of titles, ready to download at the click of a button.
However, if you don’t have a library card just pop into your local branch and you’ll be signed up in minutes. You can even use one of the free library computers to sign up for the e-audio book download service too.
The service is completely free and allows you to download up to 10 titles at a time, for three weeks each. You can listen to the e-audio book on your computer and most mp3 players, and renew for another three weeks if needed. Otherwise, the file will just deactivate at the end of the borrowing period, eliminating late fees and enabling you to download another title. This doesn’t affect your usual library borrowing of print books, audio books and other services.
