How to take part
All you need to do is leave your car at home for one or more days during the BIG Green Commuter Challenge week (Monday 12 - 16 May 2008) and use an alternative instead.
- walk
- cycle
- run
- bus
- train
- ferry
- car share
- any combination of these
- you could even skate, skateboard, or jog
Then record all the miles saved for all the journeys made during the week:-
- all miles for the journey to work (there and back again)
- journeys during the day
- journeys that you were going to make but avoided by making a phone call or videoconferencing instead
- using the stairs instead of the lift
Add up all the miles that you have saved each day.
At the end of the week record the miles on the website (recording form will not be open until the week of the BGCC).
For those who do not have access to the web it is possible for the forms on the leaflet to be completed and returned to either the relevant workplace coordinator or returned to Amanda Morris Travel Plan Officer at Portsmouth City Council.
