Flooding

The aim of this service is to provide a flood warning system giving information to the public, media, emergency services and local authorities. The risk of flooding in Portsmouth is derived from the tidal/storm events associated to the sea , not due to rivers. It is the  Environment Agency who identify flood risk areas by participating in flodd rsik assessments advise Portsmouth council to ensure that we as a council consider local flood risks and issues prior to the planning of future structural developments. The Coastal Group within the Engineering & Design Service Consultancy undertake a wide range of issues associated with the coastline on behalf of its client Portsmouth City Council to ensure that the City's flood and coastal defences are maintained to the appropriate standards.
