Portsmouth City Council City Crest

Housing

Over 50% of the homes in Portsmouth were built prior to 1919 ; 9% of those private sector homes are deemed 'unfit' . The Housing Strategy is one of the city council's principle strategies.  The Head of Housing Management's role is to develop links with other agencies and departments, as well as other departments within the council, to ensure a unified service is delivered. The Community Housing Service incorporates Housing Options, Private Sector Housing, Supporting People, Community Initiatives and Community Alarm services. Rented housing in Portsmouth through private landlords and Housing Associations is very common and as a council we can still offer you advice and assistance in the following areas : eviction , repairs , neighbourhood nuisance , racial harassment and domestic violence.
