Community safety

Safer Portsmouth Partnership Logo Reducing crime and making the community safer is one of the council's key priorities. We do this work in partnership with Hampshire Constabulary, Portsmouth City Primary Care Trust, the Fire Service and many other agencies including representatives from the community as well as the voluntary sector

These pages have information that will be of interest if you're a resident, want to find out where to go to report a crime or are trying to find up-to-date crime information or research data. You may wish to view the Community Safety Strategy for the City of Portsmouth 2005-2008, which you can find in "Associated Documents" lower down this page.

For more specific information on each priority of the strategy and general crime information click on the appropriate links below.

Email the Community Safety Team with your questions and/or comments at communitysafety@portsmouthcc.gov.uk

What's New?

In 2004 a detailed audit of crime, disorder and substance misuse was undertaken in the city. Once this was completed a consultation was conducted with residents, agencies and the wider community on the initial findings and to help inform the strategy.

The Community Safety Strategy for the city of Portsmouth 2005 - 2008 has now been written and you can obtain a copy by either clicking on the link below or contacting the Community Safety Team at:
