How you can get involved
Last updated: 09 August 2010 16:47 UKThe Big Screen aims to involve as many local residents as possible. This will help us create a programme of films and photographs representing life in Portsmouth in the twenty first century.
There are many ways that you can get involved with the Big Screen and here you'll find just some ideas to get you started.
Film It, Snap It and Send It
We welcome project ideas and material from the local community, individuals, schools, colleges, universities, charities, community groups and organisations, amateur filmmakers – and anyone else who is interested in making a film.
The possibilities really are endless! Furthermore, as the Big Screen is remaining in position for the 2012 London Olympics, you have plenty of time to create your masterpiece. This is your chance to have your work, or even you, actually shown on the Big Screen. The Guildhall Square is the place to have your work and event seen. For more information on how to create a film, have a look at the BBC Video Nation website for some useful tips and ideas.
Showcase your work
You can use the Big Screen to showcase your work. This could be an art project that you have been working on, a film clip of a theatre production, pictures of a day out in Southsea, a community project that you are involved with, an animation that you have created, a clip of you singing a song, a film clip from a local amateur football team.
Promote your event
You can also use the Big Screen to promote a local event that is happening in the area. This would be listed as text on our City Diary.
Gain great exposure for your group
Another way you could get involved is by creating a film about a community group that you belong to. You could highlight what you are doing and why, any key events and how people can join.
